The Role of APEC in Taiwan - Canada Relations

The main objective of this study is to explore the possible confrontation as well cooperation between Taiwan and Canada in the future under the framework of APEC. The organization of this paper is as follows: Section I first summarizes the features in APEC’s development. Section II contrasts the respective roles of Canada and Taiwan in APEC. Section III addresses the possible confrontations that both countries will encounter against each other due to their participation in APEC. Section IV suggests areas of their prospective cooperation on the basis of their common interests and values in APEC. The final section concludes the good and bad in the development of bilateral ties between Taiwan and Canada under the APEC multilateral forum.
